Edtech enthusiast and advocate of the create not consume pedagogy of technology implementation, Jesse Mardian has been serving communities in Los Angeles for over seven years. He began his career pioneering blended learning models for charter schools in the Bay Area where he earned his Master's in Fine Arts, publishing numerous short stories and earning the James D. Phelan award for Humor and Satire at San Jose State University.

As an Educational Technology Specialist for Aspire Slauson Academy, Jesse continued his passion for teaching 21st century skills, developing his school’s first Digital Citizenship curriculum and coaching teachers on integrating the SAMR model into their teaching practices. During that time, he earned his Google for Education level two certification and also served as Aspire’s Youth Sports Coach for basketball, soccer, and kickball.

Now, as Westerly’s Director of Technology and Innovation, Jesse looks forward to managing our technology infrastructure while also developing the WILD Lab curriculum where students will learn computational, critical, and design thinking skills to prepare them for the ever-evolving digital world.

When he’s not researching the next big edtech innovation, Jesse can be found surfing, playing soccer, or writing short stories.
