Hi friends! My name is Patrick Lenertz and I am the new Music Technology and Band Director here at Westerly. I hail from the frost-bitten state of Minnesota and grew up in the suburbs of the Twin Cities. After receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance (Bass Trombone) from the University of Minnesota in 2011, I moved to Long Beach, CA, and attended the Bob Cole Conservatory at California State University Long Beach where I received my Master’s Degree in Music Performance (Trombone).

Since completing my Master’s Degree in 2014, I have been living and working as a professional musician and educator in the Los Angeles area. In the past six years I have recorded and performed with world-renowned musicians, toured both nationally and internationally, am on a Grammy-winning album, and am even in an Oscar-winning movie! During that time I also taught private music lessons, was a music coach, and spent the past year and a half as an Instructional Aide at IVA Middle School in Long Beach. All of those opportunities have led me to Westerly, and I am so excited to share and grow with the Westerly team, its students, and their families. To be part of a team that cares about the growth of young minds and hearts and deems the Arts to be an integral part of that growth is a dream come true.

Outside of music and education, I love and crave spending time outdoors. Camping, hiking, backpacking, and connecting with nature are a way of life for me.
