Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

Westerly School is committed to ensuring that our website and digital content are accessible to all members of our community, including students, families, staff, prospective families, and visitors with disabilities. We believe that digital accessibility supports our mission to empower students to become lifelong learners who lead with curiosity, create with courage, and inspire with heart.

Access to our website is integral to participation in our school community. We are committed to making our digital presence welcoming, usable, and accessible to everyone, regardless of ability.

Accessibility Standards

Westerly School strives to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These internationally recognized standards help ensure our website is accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including:

  • Visual impairments (blindness, low vision, color blindness)
  • Hearing impairments
  • Motor disabilities
  • Cognitive disabilities
  • Learning disabilities

Our Ongoing Efforts

We are actively working to:

  • Review and test our website content regularly for accessibility
  • Train staff members who create and manage digital content on accessibility best practices
  • Work with our website provider (Finalsite) to ensure our platform meets accessibility standards
  • Make accessibility a priority when adding new features or content to our website
  • Provide alternative formats for information when requested

Known Limitations

While we work toward full accessibility, we acknowledge that some content on our website may not yet meet all WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. We are committed to addressing these issues as quickly as possible and prioritizing the most essential and frequently accessed content.

Third-party content, documents, videos, or embedded applications may not always be fully accessible. When possible, we will work to provide accessible alternatives or work with vendors to improve accessibility.
