WELCOME TO WESTERLY
Westerly School emerged in response to the Long Beach community's desire for a unique educational option distinct from both the public school system and religiously-affiliated institutions. Established in 1993, Westerly's mission is to develop each student's intellectual, moral, and physical potential. The school's founding was made possible through the unwavering dedication of Long Beach families.
Under the leadership of the first Head of School Ray Bizjack, Westerly was created with a vision to provide a well-rounded education, featuring a low student-to-teacher ratio and dedicated specialists in various fields. Financial aid was introduced to ensure economic diversity among students. After securing funds, the school opened in September 1993 with nearly 40 students. Westerly School had become a concrete reality, attracting more students as the year progressed. This marked a new educational choice for Long Beach families, and the school's journey of excellence began. We invite you to explore Westerly School further by scheduling a tour to witness our remarkable learning community firsthand.
